This shell-like metaphor concept was extended by Blue Sky Architecture into a West Coast Indian "Salish Hat" for shelter. Uniquely placed on top of a hill, this home sits high above Navy Channel providing breath-taking south, east and west ocean views.
As described by the architect and by the photos, there are "three pavilions of living, guest and studio wings." A home for a discriminating buyer who recognizes the quality of design and the intimacy of nature blending west coast architecture and coastal island topography. "This house takes the 360-degree wide views of ocean and forest and frames them into more distinct and particular landscapes. An interior meditative courtyard is formed in contrast to the wide vistas presented on surrounding decks.
Both intimate views of magnificent old fir trees and courtyard garden (with circulating stream and pond) and expansive views to the surrounding ocean are framed by the varied aspects of the radial design. Quoting from Helliwell + Smith of Blue Sky Architecture.
